Assistant Manager – Bar & Dog Park Operations (PM/Weekends)
Location: Cleveland, OH
Pay: $40,000/year + performance bonuses
Job Type: Full-time
About Us
Taps & Tails is a one-of-a-kind dog park bar where hospitality and dog safety meet. Our environment is fast-paced, high-energy, and full of dogs of all sizes and personalities. We’ve built clear, standardized systems — your job as Assistant Manager is to execute them consistently, lead the floor, and maintain a fun and safe environment for guests and dogs.
If you thrive in structured, hands-on roles, enjoy coaching a small team, and take pride in doing things right every shift, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do
Bar Operations
Lead bar operations during PM and weekend shifts, ensuring fast, friendly, and high-quality service.
Supervise bartenders and barbacks, enforce standards, and coach staff in real time.
Maintain bar inventory, place orders, and ensure stock levels are accurate.
Ensure alcohol service complies with all state and local laws.
Execute pre-planned promotions and follow established systems — not reinvent them.
Dog Park & Guest Experience
Monitor the off-leash dog park to ensure safety rules are followed for all pets and guests.
Support dog attendants in managing playgroups and monitoring dog behavior.
Address guest questions or concerns immediately and professionally.
Document incidents and shift notes clearly for management review.
Keep the bar and park clean, organized, and safe.
Team Leadership
Train and schedule staff for both bar and dog park roles.
Lead by example on the floor, holding all team members accountable to our standards.
Step in for the General Manager when needed.
What We’re Looking For
Proven ability to follow instructions and execute systems reliably.
Strong leadership skills with a calm, decisive presence.
Experience supervising a small team in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable making on-the-spot decisions and documenting them accurately.
Passion for dogs and comfort working around dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism with guests and staff.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physically able to stand for long periods and work in a lively environment.
Note: This role is not a creative “big idea” position — it is a hands-on, execution-focused leadership role. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, follows systems, and maintains high standards.
Why You’ll Love It
Work in a fun, dog-friendly environment.
Join a small, team-oriented company with standardized systems to make your life easier.
Performance-based bonus potential.
Opportunity to grow into more responsibility if you excel.
